remote desktop connection

I cannot connect to server. I get this message:
"This computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connection again. If the problem continues, contact the owner of the remote computer or your network administrator."
Well, the problem cannot be with the remote computer because others from the same nerwork can connect to it, and I could too when I had windows xp on my notebook. Please help me. Thanks.

Can you ping that computer? (type "cmd" into the seach box from the windows menu then "ping x.x.x.x" where x.x.x.x is the IP address of the remote machine.) If that works, try ping y where y is the machine name of the computer.
